Comments | RecommendThe problem: We built our home a year and a half ago with this space in mind to be my office. As we lived in the home we realized the space would be better utilized as an exercise room/hobby room. Through the past year the space has become a catch-all for my scrap stuff, jeweling, crafts with the kids, our exercise bike and weights.

When Rosie Wainscott and her husband, Matt, moved into their home three years ago, they were thrilled with the master bath. Now it is outdated and not as functional as it could be with a lot of wasted space.
Decor offers storage and a warm place to relax

When I built this home in Gilbert I wanted a space that would be less an office and more a creative spot where I could write, research and relax. But this room quickly turned into something more complex, and it’s definitely not relaxing. This room is 10 feet by 11 feet, with French doors, one window, and I’ve stuffed furniture (love seat, desk, chair, two bookcases, end table, entertainment console) and accessories into it.
Splashes of green, metal and glass add 'wow' factor to entryway

The first thing you see when you walk in my front door is a 10-foot-high wall just 4 feet in front of you. Like many East Valley homes, my house in east Mesa has a tiny entryway that’s only about 4 feet deep by 8 feet wide. I want the entryway to have that “wow” factor because I use the front door a lot and because it’s fully visible from the living room where I do all the entertaining.
